Documentation Help for New Developer to Asp.net/C#/Azure

Dec 16, 2009 at 9:51 AM

I really hate to bring this up, but at the chance of sounding much like a unskilled developer, I am somewhat lost as to how to use this, particularly in regards to tables. I'm new to the Asp.Net/C#/Azure system but have developed in other languages, primarily PHP, for well over 10 years. Is there something I'm not seeing in regards to how to use the Tables?

Thank you and best Regards,

Hi Howard,

I'll write the doc for the TableStorage these days - think it will be ready for next week.

If you are new to ASP.NET you first need to understand basic concepts like the web.config file for configuring the web app, and the <connectionstrings/> part of that file for connecting databases.

cloud4net table model is very straightforward. You'll write things like that:

var table = TableStorage.Tables["xx"].Map<YourEntity>();
foreach(var record in table.FindAll(row=>row.PartitionKey=="XX"))
{
  // do something
  table.Delete(row); // delete the record for instance..

See you next week with the updated doc. Thanks for your interest.

Hello JazBee,

Thanks for the reply, I'm still going over a vast amount of it, taking in c#, asp.net, iis configuration, azure, asp.net mvc, etc etc all at once is slightly overwhelming to say at the least.

I will play around with the system with code based off of that.

Thanks again and best regards
